Job Description:
As a senior engineer, you will be working with an engineering team developing and enhancing the next generation TeleNav Map Image System, providing high-quality map imagery for TeleNav products. Development of this TeleNav Map Image System will test the greatest of your abilities in GIS, algorithms, data structures, Performance/Scalability, working with massive data sets, dynamic data, Open Sources and supporting massive parallelism to support large concurrent user request volumes.

You will have access to the latest tools, technologies and a great team of skilled and talented developers. You will have the opportunity to take a leadership role to not only meet the requirements - but to exceed them. You will work with the Product Manager to refine the next generation features and capabilities of the Map Image System, define the technical scope of the project and keep a sharp focus on delivery schedules while having an eye on longer-term goals. Your real focus will be around going outside of the box to develop the Map Image System that can provide the best map image for our customers - from key design decisions, implementation intricacies and on-going maintenance.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the effort to develop a performance-oriented, scalable, manageable map imagery platform
- Refine business requirements into technical requirements - and communicate those goals effectively to the team
- Work closely with other Lead Developers and Architects to define interfaces and integration points
- Develop designs that fulfills functional requirements while proving scalability, performance and maintainability
- Lead a team of developers by example - excellent coding habits, disciplined unit testing and integration
- Drive excellence and task delivery by leveraging Agile concepts
- Acts a leader by demonstrating integrity in work practices and respect for everyone

Requirements:
- 7+ years of direct hands-on experience in Java, C/C++ or other program Languages
- 3+ years of leading a team of developers to develop and deploy a component or product
- 3+ years of architecture and design skills - OO analysis and Design Patterns
- Superior coding skills - Java and/or C/C++ experience
- Superior skills in data structure and algorithm design for massively scalable, distributed, multi-threaded environments
- Experience with running in a horizontally distributed Linux-based production environment
- Proven ability to influence engineering peers and management
- Experience working with large data sets a plus, preferably vector, image and/or terrain data
- Experience and knowledge of Squid, Mogile FS, MapNik, OPenStreetMap, GDAL etc. is a big plus
